It was an extraordinary moment of grace and commitment as we witnessed the ordination of eight remarkable individuals into the sacred priesthood on Sunday, 02 July 2023, at the St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Parish Kangemi, in Nairobi, Kenya.
A blessing to celebrate and honor the culmination of years of discernment, formation, and unwavering dedication to serving God and His people.
The seven Jesuit and one Missionary of Africa Priests have now embarked on a transformative journey, embracing the call to serve as shepherds of faith, compassion, and love. Through their ordination, they are entrusted with the sacred duty of guiding souls, spreading the teachings of Christ, and embodying the values of their respective Congregations.
Those ordained are namely: Tobias Dindi Ong'aria, SJ; Gabriel Otieno Abonyo, SJ; James Mugwe, SJ; Sammy Wafula Wanyonyi, SJ; Simplicious Wesonga Mugeni, Missionaries of Africa; Eddie Onyango SJ; Kimatu Boniface Mutuku, SJ; and Kiprono David Ngetich, SJ.
As we witnessed this profound ceremony, we were reminded of the immense responsibility that comes with the priesthood. These newly ordained priests have been chosen to carry on the legacy of Saint Ignatius of Loyola, embracing his vision of being "contemplatives in action" and striving for the greater glory of God in all they do.
Their hands are now anointed and consecrated to perform the sacred sacraments. Their hearts, filled with humility and compassion are now called to shepherd the faithful, offering solace, guidance, and the sacraments of grace.
We offer our heartfelt congratulations and prayers for these newly ordained priests as they embark on their lifelong journey of ministering to God's people. May their lives be a testament to the transformative power of faith and may they be guided by the Holy Spirit in all their endeavors.
We extend our deepest gratitude to the families, friends, and mentors who have supported them throughout their formation. Your unwavering support and love has played an instrumental role in shaping their vocations and nurturing their commitment to serve.
May this ordination serve as a powerful reminder of our shared mission to be servants of God, spreading His love and mercy to all corners of the world. Let us join together in prayer, asking for God's blessings upon these newly ordained priests, so that they may be steadfast in their faith, courageous in their ministry, and compassionate in their service.
Dear brothers, on your ordination into the priesthood. May your journey be filled with abundant blessings, joy, and grace flowing from Christ's heart.
