Get to Know Us

The mission of the Society of Jesus since the time of its foundation by Saint Ignatius has always relied on the generosity of women and men whose readiness to share in supporting the works of the Society has enabled the carrying forward of the work of building the kingdom of God in service of God’s people.

All your donations continue to make possible the daily miracles of the Society of Jesus in its works.

Here at the Jesuit Conference of Africa and Madagascar our various ministries are graced and privileged point of contact with people in their daily lives and especially at a time when there are such serious health and economic challenges across Africa.

We are very grateful for this support here in this youngest part of the Society.

If you are at all able to share something of what you have in support of this mission, you can make a gift online in the currency of your choice. You can also donate as an individual or as a community organisation.

If you are giving is only through prayer then know that you too are remembered and counted in the prayers and Masses for benefactors which are offered by all Jesuits across the world.

Thank you for your generosity & support.

Your donations make our work possible. Because of you, our work can continue.

HIV/AIDS Care & Prevention

African Jesuits AIDS Network’s vision is to “empower individuals, families and communities, and to work towards an HIV- and AIDS-free society, and towards the fullness of life.”

This is realized by Jesuits and their co-workers as they reach out daily to the people with HIV, to their families, their widows, and their orphans.

Services offered by organisations that form part of the network include pastoral counselling, home based care, income generating activities, and educational, medical and nutritional support. Prevention of HIV through value-based education, prevention of mother-to-child transmission and testing services is crucial, not least among young people.

In the course of their ministry, Jesuits and their co-workers find that they are also called to defend the dignity and rights of those affected, which are often threatened by stigma, discrimination and by the lack of care, treatment and opportunities that they need to live life to the full.

If you wish to make a donation by direct bank transfer please contact Fr. Paul Hamill, SJ, at this e-mail:

Fr Paul will get in touch with you about the best method of transfer for you and share account details with you. Donations can be one-off gifts or of any frequency; for example, you might wish to become a regular monthly donor of small amounts; that sort of reliable income can allow for very welcome forward planning in the development of the Society’s works in Africa and Madagascar.

Often it is easier to send a donation to an office within your own country and Fr Paul can advise on how that might be done. In some countries, this kind of giving can also be recognised for tax relief and the necessary receipts will be issued.

Climate & Social Justice (JENA)

Your donations support our Ignatian inspired programmes that touch on social justice, ecology, policy, and advocacy.

We aim to bring the charity and the justice of the Gospel to today’s world.

For the next five years, Jesuit Justice and Ecology Network Africa (JENA) commits to engage, educate, and advocate on the global agendas (e.g., SDGs) and agencies for change highlighting the greater sustainable values, collaboration and scientific knowledge while supporting the cry of the poor.

Your support helps us promote our advocacy campaigns to help those left behind as the numerous Jesuit works in Africa continue to actively promote justice and reconciliation with others and with the environment.

Safeguarding Children & Vulnerable Adults

JCAM commits to creating a culturally sensitive and contextually relevant safeguarding environment to ensure a generation free from abuse.

The programme aims to create, promote and sustain a consistent culture of protection across the ministries, communities, and apostolates of the Society of Jesus in Africa and Madagascar.

Safeguarding workshops are organised: to generate commitment by the leadership, increase technical understanding and equip Child Protection Officers within the various ministries with resources and tools to facilitate safeguarding conversations and initiatives within their Provinces.

Care of Senior & Infirm Jesuits

When Jesuits reach the end of active ministry and require medical assistance, they most often reside in specialized Jesuit communities that provide both a home and skilled nursing care.

This care is administered by medical professionals and made possible by the generosity of many friends, former students, parishioners, retreatants, and benefactors. Please consider adding your support for these Jesuits.
