Kanien, the academic journal of the professors from the Institute of Theology of the Society of Jesus (ITCJ), has made a significant leap in its digital transformation with the launch of its official website.

Specializing in theology and humanities, Kanien has been a vital platform for scholarly discourse since its inception in 2013, publishing two issues per year.

On September 7, 2024, the website was officially unveiled during the opening ceremony of the 2024-2025 academic year, held at the ITCJ amphitheater. The launch event, attended by professors, students, and distinguished guests, was marked by a presentation from Father Loic Mben, SJ, the chief editor of the journal. He introduced the website, accessible at revue-kanien.com, showcasing its key features designed to enhance the journal’s reach and streamline its operations.

The newly launched website hosts two primary platforms:

E-Trade Platform: Available via the “Issues” and “Shop” tabs, this platform allows users to purchase entire journal issues, individual articles, or subscribe to the journal. It also provides access to both current and past editions, making it easier for readers and researchers to explore Kanien's rich archive.

Article Submission and Management: Designed to facilitate a smoother submission process, this platform enables prospective authors to view submission guidelines, upload their manuscripts, and track the evaluation process. Editors, led by the chief editor, can manage submissions more effectively, distributing them for peer review and providing feedback to authors. This feature is accessible through the “Submission” tab.

A New Milestone in Kanien’s Digital Journey

The development of the website, completed in just three months, marks a significant milestone in the journal’s ongoing digital evolution. Having started its digitization efforts in 2019, Kanien’s new online presence will further expand its contributor base and readership, offering a broader platform for theological and humanities research.

In addition to facilitating international collaboration, the website is expected to reduce production costs and continue Kanien’s mission of making academic research more accessible.

The launch of the Kanien website represents not only a technological advancement but also a commitment to enhancing the journal’s role in promoting theological scholarship and critical humanities research worldwide.
